Play Reading Series
A part of Slant of Light's mission is to produce artistic work that inspires communication in a safe atmosphere.The Play Reading Series
is a monthly script-in-hands reading of not-yet-produced plays. These
readings give the community the opportunity to experience the plays before they've reached any other audience, as well as the opportunity to discuss the works with the authors following the production.

All play readings will be held in the McManus Meeting Room at the Westport Public Library, 20 Jesup Road, Westport, CT 06880.
"When you are doing a performance, you have to not only command the stage, but the room. When having a conversation, your inner world has to be so big, magnetic, encompassing. You have to be in command of this. You bring them into your world. It is your creation. The magic, the presence, the land of your voice--the audience should feel like they're in a different world. The world is being painted. You have to use your costume, set, voice, presence, and inner world to fill the entire space. They have to feel like whatever you're talking about is happening not only onstage, but right in front of them. All on the sides of them. Behind them. This is your duty."
